NADI 17th Annual Meeting
The NADI 17th Annual Meeting was held from 29 April to 2 May 2024 in Vang Vieng, Lao PDR, organised by the Military Science and History Department (MSHD), Ministry of National Defence, Lao PDR. Brigadier General Viengxay Somvichit, Director General of MSHD, chaired the Annual Meeting.
The NADI Annual Meeting examined how areas of ASEAN defence cooperation can be bolstered to promote regional peace, security and resilience. Delegates reviewed the state of ADMM and ADMM-Plus cooperation and identified ways forward to enhance both forums. Delegates also discussed the issue of ADMM-Plus membership, and deliberated on the opportunities and challenges of the process of adding new ADMM-Plus members. To those ends, the delegates provided recommendations, for the consideration of ASEAN and the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM).
