About the Series

This Conversation Series shines a spotlight on the real-life experiences of three individuals who had unique confrontations with terrorism and political violence and, in doing so, overcame considerable challenges in managing the specific terror incidents they encountered. They will share their experiences and perspectives, some of which are not known public information. Through conversations with them, the audience will gain critical lessons and insights into how issues relevant to counter-terrorism can be managed from the experiences of those who have weathered their own “storms”.

Speaker

Mr Lorand Bodo is an Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) subject matter expert formerly with ‘Tech Against Terrorism’ – an initiative launched and supported by the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate (UN CTED) that works with the global tech industry to tackle terrorist use of the internet. In addition to this, Lorand has worked in various OSINT positions and taught OSINT to government, law enforcement and military officials, and commercial clients. He is currently the co-founder of the OSINT Curious Project, which is a source of actionable, Open Source Intelligence news, original blogs, instructional videos, and live streams.

Lorand specialises in monitoring/analysing terrorist entities online, developing unique research methodologies for intelligence gathering and providing in-depth analyses of critical security issues. In his previous role with Tech Against Terrorism, he worked to identify terrorist content and this included the rapid removal of videos put up by terrorists live streaming their attack on social media.

Lorand’s academic background is in terrorism studies and research methodology. He has three Masters degrees, the most recent in Security and Crime Science from University College London.
