Indonesia Elections: What’s Next for Prabowo Subianto?
Since polls closed last month, former army general Prabowo Subianto has declared himself Indonesia’s new president, charged election authorities of blatant fraud, and looks to be readying himself for an all-out fight to overturn the results of the presidential election. According to the final tally of ballots announced in the wee hours of Tuesday (May 21) morning by the elections commission, Mr Joko won 55.5 per cent of the votes against Mr Prabowo’s 44.5 per cent. Dr Alexander Arifianto from RSIS said Mr Prabowo needs to file his dispute of the results with the Constitutional Court within three days of its release.
