NADI Workshop on “Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Radicalisation and Cybersecurity”
The NADI Workshop on “Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Radicalisation and Cybersecurity”, organised by the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), was held in the Novotel Singapore, from 25 to 29 June 2018. Ambassador Ong Keng Yong (Executive Deputy Chairman, RSIS) chaired the Workshop. All NADI institutions except for Myanmar attended the Workshop.
NADI delegates agreed that terrorism, radicalisation and cyber threats continue to pose major threats and challenges to ASEAN Member States (AMS) as they can affect their well-being. Delegates highlighted the importance of effective measures in tackling these threats, including whole-of-government approaches, inter-agency cooperation and robust legal frameworks. They also emphasised the need for the training of technical expertise and multilateral cooperation. The Workshop had an active exchange of views, proposing recommendations for the consideration of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) on possible ways to address these threats and challenges that the AMS face.
The Chairman’s Report of the NADI Workshop, together with the agenda and programme, are attached.
