The NADI Workshop on “Marine Environmental Protection”
The NADI Workshop on “Marine Environmental Protection”, hosted by the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Office of Strategic Studies and Strategy Management (AFP-OSSSM), was held at the Summit Ridge Hotel, Tagaytay City, the Philippines, from 21 to 23 November 2017. Rear Admiral Roberto Q Estioko (President, NDCP) and Colonel Adriano S Perez Jr (Chief, AFP-OSSSM) chaired the Workshop. Representatives from the NADI institutions of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam attended the Workshop. The Workshop discussed the marine environmental challenges in the region, identified strengths and weaknesses of national and international legal instruments in addressing these challenges, and the ways forward. The Workshop also concurred on the recommendations to enhance cooperation in marine environmental protection in the region, including on the roles of the ADMM and ADMM-Plus, to be made to the ADMM Track for their consideration. The Third NADI Retreat
The 3rd NADI Retreat was hosted by the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Office of Strategic Studies and Strategy Management (AFP-OSSSM) on 23 November 2017 at the Summit Ridge Hotel, Tagaytay City, the Philippines. Rear Admiral Roberto Q Estioko (President, NDCP) and Colonel Adriano S Perez Jr (Chief, AFP-OSSSM), chaired the Retreat. Representatives from the NADI institutions of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam attended the Retreat. The delegations had an exchange of views on the regional security environment. They discussed pertinent emerging trends, including the development of new technologies and demographic trends that could have major security implications for the region. The Retreat concluded with the consideration and concurrence of the 3rd NADI Retreat Chairman’s Report, which is attached.
