    About SCRP

    Rationale

Social cohesion is crucial for the stability and prosperity of communities, regions, and nations. It shapes how societies respond to challenges and enhances their resilience in overcoming them. The Social Cohesion Research Programme (SCRP) at RSIS is dedicated to examining social cohesion with the view to advancing policy-oriented research, forging strategic partnerships, and developing leadership to inspire cohesive and resilient societies.

As part of this effort, the Programme publishes the Southeast Asian (SEA) Social Cohesion Radar, a study that examines the state of social cohesion across Southeast Asian societies. This flagship research aims to highlight to decision-makers regarding areas where policy intervention may be most impactful.

Beyond research, SCRP enriches the discourse on social cohesion through public platforms like the International Conference on Cohesive Societies (ICCS), leadership programmes, and strategic collaborations with scholars, civic leaders, and faith-based practitioners. These initiatives foster inclusive dialogue among stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, promoting mutual understanding, trust, and cohesion.

    Mission and Vision

The SCRP will spearhead initiatives and programmes to foster cohesive and resilient societies within Southeast Asia (SEA) and globally. Our objectives are threefold:

    1. Promote social cohesion research and nurture research talent in this domain.
    2. Create platforms for dialogue and problem-solving on interfaith and social cohesion issues.
    3. Inspire collaborative approach across societies towards the practice of social cohesion.

    Our Partners

In pursuing its research and other activities, the Social Cohesion Research Programme (SCRP) will work closely with other academic and research institutions, as well as interested agencies and individuals. The Singapore Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), is a partner of SCRP.
