Abstract
Since 2020, the world had dedicated significant resources to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. This unprecedented challenge revealed gaps and varied levels of disaster preparedness worldwide. Concepts and considerations developed for “extreme” scenarios are now aligned with the “New Normal” state of a post pandemic world. Double disasters (e.g., a pandemic coupled with a natural disaster) are no longer merely worst-case planning scenarios and may be a common occurrence in future. The theme of SPDDM 2022 “The Future of Disaster Resilience is Now: Are We Ready?” aptly encapsulates the need to invoke discussion about the dynamic future of the disaster management landscape. SPDDM 2022 aims to be a catalyst for discussion on forward looking ideas that can enhance disaster resilience in the future with an emphasis on the importance to act and invest now.
The SPDDM 2022 will comprise of the following sub-themes for in-depth discussions:
Keynote Presentation: “Planetary Health: Interlinkages between Climate Change and Disasters”
High-Level Panel Discussion: “ESG Factors: riding the wave towards disaster resiliency”
Thematic Session: “Innovations Driven by Crisis”
