APPSNO brings together senior national security officers from the Asia-Pacific and beyond to Singapore for a week where they discuss, deliberate and reflect on various issues related to national security. APPSNO also presents participants an opportunity to network with their peers and officials from the various departments and Ministries in Singapore. The week-long programme includes: (a) presentations by international and local experts; (b) break-out sessions; and (c) special educational visits to places of interest. The theme for the upcoming APPSNO is National Security in the Age of Disruption.
Leading experts (made up of a combination of local and international speakers) in the domains of cybersecurity, extremism, strategic communication, homeland security and non-traditional security have been invited to share their thoughts and experiences to address topics such as:
1. Drivers of Disruption – geopolitical power shifts, global economic order, identity/culture wars.
2. Disrupting Violent Extremism – changing drivers of terrorism, new actors of violent extremism, politicisation of ideologies and understanding new forms of radicalisation.
3. Cybersecurity and Disruption – next wave of disruption to cybersecurity, cyber threats to smart cities, cyber resilience and capacity building.
4. Technology and Society – future of disinformation, trust and credibility in public communications.
