APPSNO brings together senior national security policymakers (Deputy Director level and above) from the Asia-Pacific and around the world to a) provide a platform for discussion on emergent issues, trends, and approaches to managing national security, and b) present participants with the opportunity to network with Singaporean and international security experts and practitioners. National security policymaking has become increasingly complex, encompassing not only traditional homeland security management, but also a wide variety of non-traditional threats.
The theme for the upcoming APPSNO is Resilient Societies in a Fragmented World: National Security Beyond Borders. The week-long programme includes presentations by international and local experts; break-out sessions and a tabletop exercise; and special educational visits to places of interest. Leading local and international experts in economic security, technology security, strategic communication, homeland security, and non-traditional security have been invited to share their perspectives, research, and experience on these topics:
- Panel 1 – Geopolitical Contestations and Global Disorder, Local Resilience: The Role of Smaller States in a Volatile Age
- Panel 2 – Building Resilience against Weaponised Interdependencies: Energy, Supply Chains, and Critical Vulnerabilities
- Panel 3 – Hybrid Warfare in the (mis)Information Age: Countering Foreign Influence and Disinformation
- Panel 4 – Shoring Up Societal Resilience Against Climate Change
- Panel 5 – Resilient Societies: Safeguarding Social Cohesion against Geopolitical Contestations, Polarisation and Institutional Erosion
