Seminar Abstract
In recent years, the landscape of radicalism and terrorism have undergone significant changes, presenting new challenges and complexities. Traditional notions of terrorism have shifted and evolved, giving rise to emerging threats exacerbated by societal developments and dynamism, and the use of technology. This is particularly visible in Southeast Asia, South Asia, and key hotspots like the Middle East and East Africa. There has also been an observed rise in the globalisation of far-right symbols and ideologies both within and beyond “the West”, resulting in the cross-pollination of ideas, and the formation of transnational networks that sustain and propagate radical movements.
The workshop will facilitate an exchange of perspectives to deepen understandings on ways to address regional security challenges to inform effective counter-terrorism, and counter-radicalisation efforts.
Who Should Attend
Policy-makers, academics, and other experts who are: (a) concerned about the issues of terrorism, radicalism and related national security threats; (b) the sociopolitical implications of these issues; and (c) interested in counter-terrorism and counter-radicalisation efforts.
