The Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Programme is hosting the continuation of the 2-part conference series, “Asia-Pacific and the Humanitarian World” to understand perspectives from the Asia-Pacific region on the dynamics, limits and possibilities of humanitarian action. This is particularly salient against the backdrop of countries in the region increasing their contributions to global governance. Speakers and participants will examine the understanding of major countries in the region on humanitarian action, assess the current status of multilateral humanitarian settings, review bilateral humanitarian cooperation in the region, and investigate the role of militaries, the private sector and civil society in providing humanitarian assistance. This conference brings together scholars and practitioners focused on humanitarian action in the Asia-Pacific region.
