How to Apply
Application Period: 1st September – 31st December.
Rolling admission rounds: round 1 and round 2 complete applications will be fast tracked. Round 3, applications may receive admission outcomes in April-May 2025.
Round 1: Complete applications received 1 September-31 October
Round 2: Complete applications received 1-30 November
Round 3: Complete applications received 1-31 December
Please note that no extensions to the application deadline will be possible and we are unable to process late or incomplete applications.
To be considered, the online application and all required supporting documents must be submitted by 4pm (Singapore time) on 31 December (this includes references and the application fee payment).
Step 1: Submission of online application and supporting documents
Log in to the online application system here https://wis.ntu.edu.sg/webexe/owa/coal_main.notice to complete your application and upload the following required documents.
It is mandatory for candidates to complete and submit the online applications personally. Candidates who apply through agents will not have any added advantage in gaining admission and the University reserves the right to reject such applications without giving reasons.

- Copy of undergraduate degree certificate* (in original language and accompanied by an official English translation if the original language is not English).
*If you are in the final year of your undergraduate studies and have not yet graduated when submitting your application, please submit a letter from your university stating your expected graduation date.

- Copy of the final undergraduate academic transcript* issued by your university stating your Grade Point Average (GPA) (in original language and accompanied by an official English translation if the original language is not English. The content on the original and translated document must match, including number of credits, GPA etc).
*If you are in the final year of your undergraduate studies and have not yet graduated when completing your application, please submit your transcripts to date.

4. Statement of Purpose: applicants should discuss the professional, academic and personal experiences which contributed to their desire to study at RSIS, their specific interest in the intended area of focus, and career aspirations upon graduation (600 words).
Scholarship Applicants (full-time candidates only*): please insert in your statement of purpose an additional write-up (300 words) on why you should be considered for a scholarship. Please ensure you insert this write-up otherwise we will not be able to consider you for a scholarship. In addition, please submit a writing sample.
*Please note part-time candidates are not eligible for RSIS scholarships.

5. IELTS/TOEFL test scores.
All applicants must submit test scores for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with the exception of:
- Candidates with undergraduate degrees from universities in English-speaking countries, where English is the medium of instruction.
- Candidates with undergraduate degrees taught entirely in English but in a non-English speaking country: please submit an official letter from your university stating that English was the medium of instruction for your entire bachelor degree to seek an IELTS/TOEFL waiver.
A TOEFL Test Score of minimum 100 (internet-based) or a IELTS or IELTS UKVI & Academic score of minimum 7.0. are required. Test dates must be within two years or less from the date of your application. Please insert your IELTS/TOEFL score in your resume as well.

6. Copy of NRIC for Singaporean applicants (front and back)/ PASSPORT for international applicants (page showing your nationality and personal details).
Singapore Permanent Residents must submit a copy of their Singapore NRIC and re-entry permit in addition to their passport.
Employment Pass / S Pass holders must submit a copy of their employment pass in addition to their passport.

7. One passport-sized photograph (electronic copy, jpeg format)

8. Documentary proof of present and previous employment (with designation, dates of appointment and resignation indicated), if applicable

9. Online interview and written assessment (by invitation once candidates have submitted their complete application including all the supporting documents above)
Step 2: Payment of application fee
All applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of S$50 per programme. Payment can be made online via credit or debit card, once you have submitted the online application.
Step 3: Submission of One Reference
Reference must be submitted personally by your referee* to [email protected], using the email title: ‘Reference <candidate name> <application number>’. We strongly recommend that referee use their official email address (company email address/university email address) and not personal emails such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, 163.com, qq.com etc., when submitting their references.
*Recommended referee: past or current lecturers/supervisors/managers who can comment on your abilities and potential to successfully complete the program. Referees can use this Referee Report Form. Referee can also choose to write a reference letter.
