Biography

Mr Choo Ruizhi has been appointed Associate Research Fellow with the National Security Studies Programme (NSSP) with effect from 22 June 2026.

Ruizhi is currently a Doctoral candidate at the University of Hawaii. He holds a Master of Arts in History (2019), and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours (Highest Distinction) in History (2017) from the National University of Singapore. Prior to his PhD studies, he was with NSSP from 2020 to 2023, conducting archival research and producing policy reports on Singapore’s agricultural history, marine and terrestrial food security history.

His research interests include History of Southeast Asia; Environmental history of the Malay Peninsula; and History of science and technology.
