Haridas Ramasamy is an Associate Research Fellow with the Military Studies Programme (MSP) at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University. He received his MSc in International Relations from RSIS and prior to that, he had received a MSc in Development Studies from the University of Bath in 1988 and his Bachelor’s in Economics & Political Science from the University of Toronto in 1986. Haridas had worked in the Singapore government, at the US Embassy in Singapore and in the financial and education industries prior to returning to academia in 2018.  His writings have commentary websites such as East Asia Forum and journals such as the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs and Contemporary Southeast Asia.
