Kalicharan Veera Singam is a Senior Analyst at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR) at the S.Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) in Singapore. He is an RSIS scholar who has researched and taught on security, terrorism and extremism-related issues with a focus on Singapore and the South and Southeast Asian regions.
Kalicharan was an Associate Faculty and Lecturer at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) where he has taught political science and security-oriented courses in the School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences (SHBS) and the Public Safety and Security (PSS) programme. Most of the courses he has taught at SUSS are for working adult students. Prior to his current roles, Kalicharan served as an assistant and researcher to Singapore Ambassador Barry Desker, when the latter was the Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Inter-Governmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR).
He obtained his Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours (Highest Distinction) from the National University of Singapore. An RSIS Scholar, he completed his Master of Science in Strategic Studies and earned a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR).
