The US presidential election is drawing to a close. It is as heated and unpredictable as the one four years ago. Who is likely to get elected: Kamala Harris or Donald Trump? Does the outcome of the election matter for China-US relations? If so, in what ways? How is China likely to respond to the possible challenges? What does all this mean for China and for Southeast Asian countries?
Professor Jia Qingguo addressed these issues and more in the S. T. Lee Distinguished Annual Lecture which was held on 16 October 2024, titled “The US Presidential Elections: Implications for China-US Relations”.
Prof Jia is professor and former Dean of the School of International Studies of Peking University. He is also Director of the Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding and Director of Global Governance at Peking University.
